Artificial Intelligence Policy
Use of Generative AI in Consultations at Scone Medical Practice
At Scone Medical Practice, we are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of healthcare to our patients. Part of this commitment involves adopting innovative tools and technology that enhance our ability to provide safe, efficient and personalised care. To support this, doctors working in this location may use generative AI as part of the consultation process.
How we use AI responsibly
At Scone Medical Practice, doctors can use one AI platform only, Lyrebird Scribe, and retain full oversight and control over all decision-making related to your care. Generative AI is used as a support tool, designed to complement, rather than replace, the expertise, experience and judgement of doctors. Doctors in their first term of Registrar training and International Medical Graduates under Level 1 supervision are restricted from using AI. This is to ensure that development of critical thinking and clinical management is not diminished during their initial training period. Doctors will always ask for your consent to use the Lyrebird Scribe AI tool, and patients have the right to refuse the use of AI during their consultation should they choose to.
Privacy and Security
We understand that your personal health information is private and must be treated with the utmost care. Our practice adheres to strict privacy protocols to ensure your data is handles securely. The AI tool we use in this practice, Lyrebird Scribe, are used in accordance with Australian privacy legislation and healthcare standards so your information is always protected.
