Scone Medical Practice cares about patient confidentiality and the importance of test results.

If your doctor requires tests as part of your treatment, it is best to make a follow up appointment with that doctor to discuss the results. Scone Medical Practice encourages patients to make informed decisions about their investigations, referrals or tests. A follow up appointment is made to discuss the result, the findings and what the results mean. Patients are advised of the significance of the investigations, results or referral and any costs during the first consultation before any of the above is arranged.

Patients are also advised by their GP how they will be informed of results. Generally, GP’s advise patients that they will contact them if there is a relevant finding in the tests to discuss and arrange for a follow up appointment. The GP who ordered the tests is responsible for the follow up of the patient unless an alternative arrangement has been made in certain scenarios. 

If you do not make a follow-up appointment, one of our administration staff may contact you to suggest making an appointment to discuss urgent or non-urgent results as directed by your doctor.
